"What can I say? You matched me up with a family almost before I was in the door of my house from leaving your office! It couldn't have happened faster or better. You really know what you are doing!" A. Span, Nanny |

| Rose came into a career as a nanny later in her life. She is
58 years old and has been a nanny since 1994. Her first job was with
a family whose children were 8, 6, 4 years old and then a 4th baby
was born when she started. After 5 years, she left when the youngest
started school. The family didn’t need a full time nanny anymore.
Her next family had all boys 3, 2 and newborn when she started. After
two years, the mother’s work schedule changed and they no longer
needed a full time nanny. She went on to her third family who had a
6 month old and a 6 and 4 year old. The nanny stayed with the family
for 2 years until they moved and she no longer could commute the long
distance. She has no formal education but keeps up on child development
through reading books and magazines. Her three grown children are all
independent living in the area. Her references say she is “good
with kids and understands them, dependable”, a “good teacher,
active and creative”. |

| Kristin is newly married and her husband’s work brought them to the Philadelphia area. The nanny is a recent graduate from University of Tennessee with a degree in Child and Family Services. She went to University of TN on a softball scholarship. She had played softball all through high school and then in college. She was recruited as the pitcher and had 5 hours/day of practice! She has given softball lessons to children and has done pitching coaching for elementary to high school aged girls. The nanny had classes in college where she cared for and bathed newborns in the neonatal nursery. For six months, while in school, she worked for a family with a 10, 8, 5 and 3year old. She helped the mother home school the two older children and helped care for the 5 and 3 year old. The nanny also worked at the local nursery school as part of her school program for 6 months, 20 hours per week. |

| Laura attributes her decision to become a nanny because
her own mom and dad were great role models and she wants to give back to
kids and a family what she had been given. She said "My parents played
with us, taught us to have an open mind, and are very supportive, even
today." The nanny prides herself on being the day care center’s "arts & crafts
person", she’s very creative and inventive. At the day care
center, where she has worked for a year, she develops art projects, teaches
computer programs, reading and writing to the children. The nanny was a
Creative Writing/English major and eventually wants to write children's
books. She will possibly go back to school and get a Masters in child development.
She has done extensive babysitting for several families, one where she
cared for a baby and 3 year old up to 25 hours per week and another family
where she works 2-3 times per week with a 1, 4, and 6 year old. Her references
say that she is “responsible” and “creative” and “never
watches TV”. She’s “gentle and fun”. She’s
mature and dependable, the kids really like her! |

Prior to that she did elder care and worked in a day care center for several years. She has cared for children from newborn on up and has also done some housekeeping and cooking. Her first family had a 4 year old when she started. A baby was born after a year of working with the family. Her job ended when the mother decided to leave her position and stay home with the children. Her next family had a 1 and 5 year old. She worked with this family until they relocated to another state. Her references talk about her as a “dependable, caring, creative and a righteous individual”. |

| Sue started as a nanny when she was 24 years old, now 36 continues to enjoy living in with a family, working as a team player in raising the children and helping to run the household. Her first job was with a family with 4 children 7, 5, 3 and 8 months old. She left the position after 3 years and went on to work for a family with 4 children aged 6, 4 year old twins and a 13 month old. Needless to say, this nanny likes to be busy and can juggle a lot. She worked for them for 4 years total. She left because the children were getting older and the family’s needs were changing away from needing a full time nanny. Another family who had 4 children 1, 3, 6 and 8 years old employed her for 5 years. Her references say wonderful things about her job performance. One said that the nanny was a great help to the family and the mother. The mother commented that she really misses her and that the nanny and mother still talk regularly. Another reference said she would be “a wonderful asset to any family”. She is “a warm and caring person”, “off the scale in initiative and creativity”. |

| Heather babysat for several families while in
high school and in her first year of college. One family had 3 children,
3, 5 and 8 years old. She cared for the kids days and evenings
babysitting. Another family she worked with had 3 kids
as well, 2, 5 and 9 years old. She
stayed with both of these families until she went away to college.
When deciding to take a break from college, she traveled to the Netherlands
and worked as an au pair. While there she also coached cheerleading! |

| After high school graduation Shelley worked in
the business world. She decided that wasn’t for her and went
to college for a degree in Early Childhood Education. She began working
at a day care center shortly after graduation. Concurrently she did
housesitting, pet sitting and babysitting after work! Two years later
she decided she wanted to have more of a one-on-one experience with
a family and decided to become a nanny. She worked for a family as
an entry-level nanny for two and a half years, caring for a 2 and
4 year old. The job ended when the mother was laid off from her position.
Her references are outstanding. They describe her as very caring,
patient, understanding, responsive and compassionate. In her spare
time she enjoys walking, singing, cooking, calligraphy, and she is
active in her church. |
