News & Updates

From the President's Desk...

Wendy Sachs, founder and president of TPNN, has been asked to fill a vacant seat on the INA Board of Directors, which she has accepted.   Sachs has been a past Board member, as well as Secretary, Treasurer, and President for four terms--all over a 10-year period. She is the first INA member to return to the board after leaving.

"I am really happy to be involved with the INA again. I think it plays an important role in educating parents, agencies and caregivers, and provides a much-needed forum for issues and questions particular to the in-home child care industry," Sachs says. "Projects like the Nanny Credential Exam, created by the INA, have been crucial in setting national standards to an unregulated industry."

This past year Sachs was also involved with the Nanny of the Year Task Force, whose responsibility was to update and clarify the selection process; Sachs then served on the 2006 Nanny of the Year Selection Committee.

Every educator knows it. Summer reading is essential for kids!

Reading experts note that most young readers suffer a backslide in reading skills during summer downtime. But that needn't be the case. You can make reading a priority during the summer months, and children will learn that people never take a vacation from learning.

The above excerpt and following books are samples from Educator World ® Curriculum's Summer Reading List, as well as other schools' lists.   See the Kid's Website Corner for details.
